it has lambda was, and quick lambda, basically a keystroke, are you talking about a hands off, self mapping version that works like an autronic?

Allow me to clarify this "on-going" concept of 'autotune'.
First of all, there is technically no such thing as 'autotune'. Closed Loop control of the fuel mixture is a dynamic function;given that the main fuel table has value(s) that are close to a pre-described target of A/F ratio.
In other words if the table value is "in left field", there will be insufficient time as the motor runs to correct the table value to a correct 'base' number to achieve a closed loop response. The ecu will simply move on to the set of number commands. You cannot get a silk purse from a sow's ear in this case. Besides, it is not a "linear" occurance as the engine accelerates (or decellerates). Nothing can or will replace a well tuned base map.Once that is accomplished, "Closed Loop" function will work and keep the engine within the A/F given in the adjustment table for the input sensor. You can fiddle with it all you want, but a normal response time for a Lambda Sensor is ~.03s. Engine response to mixture change is even slower;~.06 -1.0s. So the need for a well defined fuel base table is required. It cannot be shortcutted.

I agree with motecca's comments that autotune does not work on an engine rapidly accelerating and decelerating.

Autronic Autotune is designed to simplify mapping your fuel table, not make corrections to a tuned engine.

Correct! What I should have added is that unless you are in a "controlled" arena, (engine dyno w/ load control) you cannot expect any ECU to 'self-map' or Autotune itself.
As far as addressing the beginning question to this string, NO; we know of no company doing any "interface" work with a device other than our software. I would think that the job of creating such a device would be much bigger than anyone would immediately think.
